Stagewise Ltd provides specialist stage engineering services for theatres, studios, and places of entertainment across the UK. We work on the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and compliance of stage and auditorium equipment, including lifting systems, control systems, mechanical equipment, and associated electrical infrastructure.

The Role

We are looking for a capable, reliable, and motivated Electro-Mechanical Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, inspection, repair, fault diagnosis, and commissioning of specialist stage engineering systems. This is a hands-on engineering position, with the majority of time spent on client sites across the UK.

You will be working with a mix of mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, control, lifting, and auditorium equipment. The role suits someone who is practical, switched-on, safety-conscious, and confident working in live venue environments.

 

What You’ll Be Doing·

  • Installing, maintaining, repairing, and commissioning specialist stage engineering equipment
  • Fault-finding across mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, control, and lifting systems
  • Supporting inspections, testing, upgrades, and maintenance visits at client venues
  • Working safely at height and around specialist stage and auditorium equipment
  • Following risk assessments, method statements, permits, and safe systems of work
  • Providing clear technical feedback to Directors, project leads, and clients after site visits
  • Keeping basic job records and service notes where required, without responsibility for office-based project administration

 

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Strong practical electro-mechanical engineering skills
  • Minimum electrical qualification: must hold BS 7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations, 18th Edition
  • Experience working with mechanical systems, electrical systems, motors, control equipment, lifting equipment, or similar technical installations
  • Confident fault-finding, repairing, adjusting, and commissioning technical equipment
  • Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK, including occasional overnight stays
  • Comfortable working at height and in live venue environments, subject to training and safe systems of work
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach with clients, colleagues, and site teams
  • A full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Background in theatre, live events, broadcast, industrial maintenance, mechanical handling, lifting equipment, automation, or control systems
  • Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, BS 7905, BS 7906, ABTT guidance, or theatre engineering good practice
  • Electrical qualification, mechanical engineering qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • IPAF, PASMA, first aid, manual handling, or working-at-height training
